WALMART AIMS FOR 30 SECOND IN-STORE RETURN PROCESS
With shoppers’ demand for quick and easy service, supermarkets and retail stores have been stepping up their game to keep up. Walmart has decided to focus on customer needs and created Mobile Express Returns, a new in-store service that could only take 30 seconds.
The returns process will be available in November for items that are sold and shipped on the Walmart website, with items that are purchased in store to follow in 2018.
The Mobile Express Returns process takes two easy steps. First, using the Walmart app, customers must select the Walmart transaction and item(s) to return and follow the prompts to start the return process. Then, at the store, customers go to Customer Service, scan the QR code displayed on the card reader with the Walmart app and then hand the item to the associate.
According to Business Wire, Daniel Eckhert, senior vice president of Walmart U.S. Services and Digital Acceleration, said, “We know that returning an item and waiting for a refund, especially for a product purchased online, isn’t always seamless, so we’ve completely transformed the process for our customers – whether they are shopping in stores or at Walmart.com.”
On a call with the media, Eckhert said Walmart wants to slash the return service to just 30 seconds.
MOBILE EXPRESS PHARMACY AND MOBILE EXPRESS MONEY SERVICES WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE
According to Walmart’s blog, this is the third Mobile Express offering announced this year by Walmart and comes at a time when the retailer is doubling-down on innovation within the app to deliver a more integrated shopping experience. Mobile Express Money Services is also, now available chainwide and Mobile Express Pharmacy will be available nationwide later this year.
“By leveraging our physical stores and the Walmart app, we’re changing the returns game in ways that only Walmart can do. Throughout the year, we’ve added features to our app to make it an even more powerful, time-saving tool for our customers shopping online and in our stores; Mobile Express Returns is our latest enhancement,” added Eckhert, according to Walmart’s blog.
