Tajima Expands Ramen Empire Into Tijuana
Its first Mexican outpost grand opens
With locations in Kearny Mesa, Hillcrest and the East Village, and another in the works for Adams Avenue, Tajima has taken its ramen show to Tijuana, where it recently opened a 500-square-foot eatery in the Plaza Rio Food Garden, a grand food court in the Zona Rio neighborhood that’s home to a variety of eateries, including chef-driven offerings from Javier Plascencia and Martin San Roman.
Tajima executive chef/owner Isamu Morikizono is featuring a condensed version of the restaurants’ menu at the new food stall, which includes popular ramen varieties including tonkotsu, spicy tonkotsu and a vegetarian version, plus a new Baja-Cali option. Other eats range from fried rice to gyoza and pork buns. This weekend, the Tijuana location is holding a grand opening event, with two for one ramen details on tonkotsu ramen and spicy tonkotsu ramen.
