KFC Launches Hilarious Merch Shop
After launching one of its sandwiches into space and publishing its first corporate romance novel (seriously), KFC has launched an online merchandise shop it’s calling KFC Ltd. With Colonel Sanders pillows, a chicken sandwich made with real meteorite and drumstick socks—among many others—this is the real deal.
There’s so much more. In fact, let me direct you to open a new browser tab and head over to kfclimited.com—the items are seriously hilarious and intriguing, evidence of a fun new personality for a brand whose image that could use the boost.
I assembled my dream shopping cart: a “Fried Chicken USA” sweatshirt, a “Lil Drumstick” T-shirt, the Zinger sandwich made out of a meteorite, bright red drumstick socks and an arty print of a bowl of mashed potatoes on a plain white background. It’s question-your-existence deep, and would be a great source of inspiration in my home office. And it’s sold out. The humanity!
Some of the items aren’t cheap, like the $76 sweatshirt, but that item in particular feels more like a “must have.” I could possibly live without the $20,000 meteorite in the shape of a chicken sandwich, but then again… it would be an excellent addition to any coffee table or knickknack display case. All in, my shopping cart is currently at $20,114, and I’m thinking about starting a GoFundMe or throwing these items onto my wedding registry. I mean, I am in the franchise industry after all.
With everything weird, beautiful and amazing coming out of KFC’s marketing department, it now seems like anything is possible. Allow me one additional request: a nice Kentucky-made whiskey that would really double down on the down-home heritage of the brand. In fact, that would be great on my registry, too.
KFC, I am here and I hear you. Let’s get weird together.
