Shots for Everyone! Tequila Exports Reach All Time High
This 2015, Mexico exported 180 million liters of tequila to more than 120 countries, a new record in history according to Miguel Ángel Domínguez Morales, president of the Tequila Regulatory Council (Consejo Regulador del Tequila [CRT] in Spanish).
The industry’s goal is for more countries to learn about the drink, considered by many as “Mexico’s gift to the world.” The CRT has been a fundamental part in this strategy, which is why it has received the National Export Award for the second time.
“Throughout time, since it’s inception, the CRT has strengthen our first Mexican designation of origin, even through education and culture”, highlighted Domínguez Morales.
The CRT president added that the 9th generation of the Technical Tequila Course graduated this year, which main objective is to push for innovation of an industry that increasingly demands more professionalism from its producers. Currently, there are 398 trained technicians and 129 companies.
